What is DriveCast?
DriveCast is a web-based media manager for your different devices: USB keys, portable media players, smartphones and cars. It catches your favorite audio/video contents from the web so that you can collect them on your devices in order to play them whenever and wherever you want.
DriveCast looks like a web-based iTunes, but it is different because it focuses on handling your “fresh” multimedia contents saving them in your online library.
DriveCast automatically will manage your contents keeping them always up-to-date!
Here is what you can do with DriveCast:
- Subscribe to any podcast and decide the episodes you want to take with you
- Record from any radio, set the channel and the time you want DriveCast to record it (once, daily, weekly)
- Add more items while you browse on Internet, when you find an interesting clip you can add it to your online library with just a click
The DriveCast components:
- Online library is where all your media contents are saved.
- DriveCastUSB is the software that automatically synchronizes your devices with your online library.
- Multimedia WebRecorder (MMWR) allows Internet media recording, if you play content on web MMWR will keep it for you.
Who developed DriveCast
DriveCast was developed by Inrete, an Italian Application Service Provider (ASP) and System Management Outsourcer.
Inrete main activity is to solve Internet problems for its clients (mainly large organizations) and it is specialized in email management, network engineering (routing), performance monitoring, continuous vulnerability assessment and data exchange systems.
Inrete mission is to maximize the efficiency of its customers’ Internet services.
In the last two years, before creating DriveCast Inrete joined to the development of Vcast: a web-based audio/video PVR with over 120,000 italian users.
